Animal Testing – Links

I threw together a page with animal testing info, for those of you who are interested in finding out which companies do and don’t test on animals.

You can find the page if you go to “Beauty” in the menu, and then “Animal Testing”. If you are lazy you may click here: http://steelnpurple.com/animal-testing/ ;)

If you feel I have made any mistakes please let me know! I will keep that page as up to date as possible.

Facebook?!

I just (from the bed actually lol) created a Facebook page to act as a “social media hub” and bring all my presence into one nifty place!

My idea is to post news, info regarding videos and blog posts and to INTERACT with you guys! I also wanted to keep my personal Facebook personal so to speak, hence a Page!!

So, I’d really appreciate it if y’all would go and “like” my brand new page!

LUSH Feeling Younger Review

Many of you may already know this but LUSH is one of my absolute favourite brands when it comes to bath/shower products and also skin care. This review is for a product that is more of a makeup product: Feeling Younger skin tint/primer!

I have the Swedish version of this, hence the Swedish name on the lid (Ung Igen):

LUSH Feeling Younger

It is marketed as a “skin tint/primer” and it is just that. However.. it is a bit more exciting than “just a tint” since this is reflective and glowing! NO GLITTERS though! It’s got an iridescent look to it.

What it’s not: moisturizing (but it’s not marketed as such so all is good)

What it is: an iridescent tint that can be used either to mix in with your foundation, or to use under it like a primer! It will give your skin a gorgeous “glow from within” without any glitters or shimmers!

LUSH Feeling Younger

In this swatch (which is heavier than you would use on your face) you can clearly see the iridescence:

LUSH Feeling Younger

You get 20 grams of product and it comes in a glass jar. You only need a tiny bit of product to get the desired effect.

If you, like me, have dry skin I suggest you moisturize well before applying, since this is not giving any additional moisture to the skin.

I think this is a fabulous product, I use it both to mix in the foundation or under it (as a primer), depends on which foundation I’m using. I love it so much, it is absolutely one of those “secret beauty products” that makes you look amazing!

US Price: $18.95

UK Price:  £12.00

Highly recommended, especially if you have normal or dry skin for that extra gorgeous glitter-free glow!

Leighton Denny CUTI-LIPS

Long time no see and so on..

I have a new product to show you that I’m quite excited about: it’s a combined nail and lip balm! Let me present the Leighton Denny CUTI-LIPS nail and lip balm!

Leighton Denny

I actually ordered this way before Christmas but the Swedish postal service (once again) managed to lose my package, so BeautyBay were kind enough to send me a new package.

I really do love this product, I immediately did after my first use. Reason? It instantly sinks in to the skin and leaves it super smooth and soft! No greasy residue.. this is perfect to keep in the purse. No need to use it for nighttime only!

It has a funny smell, not bad, not good.. funny. I can’t pinpoint it though but it’s kind of soothing. A bit minty but not like pure mint.

It is also supposed to soften and plump the lips. I’m not sure about the plumping but it does smooth them! I have other lip balms that I prefer though. However, it is a kick ass cuticle and nail balm! I’m surprised by some of the “ho hum” reviews I’ve seen of this!

Ingredients:

Persea Gratissima, Petrolatum, Cera Alba, Prunus Dulcis, Phenyl Trimethicone, Mentha Arvensis Piperascens, Aroma, Propyl Paraben, Saccharin, C. I.61565

Leighton Denny

Price (on Leighton Denny website): £6.74

Have you tried this or any other Leighton Denny products?

EU ban on animal tested cosmetics

Many of you have probably heard by now but it seems like the EU ban on selling animal tested cosmetics actually is going to happen this time. The date to keep in your calendar is March 11.

This in effect means that companies like for example L’Oreal or MAC Cosmetics will have to CHOOSE whether they are going to sell in China OR in the EU. They will not be able to sell in both markets.

China is requiring animal testing and EU will outlaw it.

There are four possible scenarios:

1. The ban will not take place this time around either. It will be postponed once again.

2. Shelves in EU shops will gape empty after March 11 because brands will choose China over Europe.

3. All major makeup brands will pull out of China after March 11 in order to keep selling in the EU.

4. China will stop requiring animal testing after March 11.

What are your thoughts?

Makeout 2013

I have decided to join in on the Makeout 2013 “movement”. What’s that, you may ask?!
Well, it was started by Pinksofoxy on YouTube and several other Youtubers have joined in. So I decided to also do that!

I will be making a video regarding this, but I have not had the time or energy so I thought I’d just throw together a blog post about it for now. I WILL make a video as soon as I can!

We can all make our own rules in Makeout 2013, and here is the rules I have set up for myself! Again, I will do a video where I will talk a bit more in depth about it.

  • Skin and hair care not included.
  • May replace what I finish up if Holy Grail, including nail treatments, base coat, top coat. But only if Holy Grail.
  • May buy 12 makeup items. This includes color nail polish.
  • May not buy shower gel or soap until stash severely reduced.
  • Throw out all expired and otherwise not usable makeup.
  • Make monthly video to update y’all of progress!

And that’s it! Wish me luck? :D

Lush FUN Review

FUN is a fairly new 4-in-1 Lush product. The four ways you can use it are:

  • For body
  • For bath
  • For hair
  • For fun

There are five different versions available: red, yellow, pink, blue, green! I have the yellow and the pink FUN!

The scents of them are as follows (according to Lush):
Red: Mandarin and orange
Yellow: Vanilla
Pink: Fruity candy
Blue: Moroccan chamomile and chamomile blue essential oils
Green: Lime and lemon

They look like sausages and they are quite soft and moldable (if that is a word lol)! This is where the “fun” part comes in I guess, you can play with them and like play dough if you want! Make figures out of them and such, a nice touch and I guess quite amusing for children!

I have cut mine in slices, I don’t want to store the whole “sausage” in the bathroom, I just keep one slice in there! If I use my slice for both body and hair it will last about 3 times.

Oyster Mushroom Stir Fry

Ok so here is my first recipe on the blog. It is an interesting dish that I came up with myself and it is quite easy to do and to customize! This recipe is good for two persons.

You will need the following:

    Dried Oyster Mushrooms (1 bag)
    Potatoes
    Baby Spinach
    Cashew Nuts (salted)
    Black Pepper
    Tomato Paste
Vegetable Oil for cooking (or butter if you’re not vegan)
    Olive Oil

Start by putting the Oyster Mushrooms in water so that they swell up. This normally takes 15-20 minutes.
