Star Trek: Voyager is by far my favorite Star Trek series. It has everything; drama, action, love, comedy – just like any Star Trek installment – but there is something else in Voyager that has captivated me. The thought of being whizzed 70,000 light years away from home. Mind boggling. Seventy Thousand Light Years.
Our galaxy is, in the Star Trek Universe, divided into four Quadrants. Earth is in the Alpha Quadrant. You also have the Beta, Delta and Gamma Quadrants. Voyager ends up in the Delta Quadrant in the first episode of the series. On the other side of the galaxy.. It would take Voyager 75 years to reach Earth, if travelling at warp 9.975 (Voyager’s maximum speed). Just as a reference; it would take 1 minute to travel across the solar system at the speed of warp 7.
The red thread – the underlying plot – in Voyager is simply put: to get home.
I have – of course – watched the whole series and I have just started to re-watch it from the beginning again.
I will be sharing my thoughts on some of the characters and plot developments in ST:VOY here on steelnpurple.com.
Live Long and Prosper.. ;)
